Alafoss lopi Icelandic chuky knitting yarn

Alafoss Lopi is a unique lightweight, breathable and water repellent Icelandic chunky knitting yarn.  Icelandic sheep have two layers of fleece, and Alafoss Lopi's unique qualities derive from blending the water repellent outer fleece, with the thermal, soft inner fibres.  It's a lightly spun single ply yarn, which can make it prone to break, but it's also easy to repair by splicing the ends together. Lopi has a natural tendency to felt. which makes it warmer and more waterproof over time, but if this isn't the effect you want hand wash with care or dry clean.  Choose from  a palette of natural shades to make the traditional Icelandic sweater, the lopapeysa, with its circular, patterned yoke, or use it  for contemporary chunky patterns.  Alafoss Lopi knits to 13st to 10cm, on 6- 6.5mm needles.  100 g balls, approx. 100m (109yd)
